Back to being at the Hart of the community as popular 17th century pub prepares to reopen

A popular 17th century pub in Wimborne is preparing to reopen with what’s billed as a summer long garden party

The White Hart is to operate a booking system with bookings available from midday onwards this Friday July 17.

Landlady Sharon Elliott, pictured left with her dog, Poppy, took over 17 months ago and has refurbished the public and lounge bars.

She’s also remodelled the garden with a bespoke dining area for up to 60 guests with improved seating and shelter.

Sharon said: “The booking system we are using is Eventbrite, which you can find via the website or our Facebook page.

“Customers seeking food, drink or attending an event will have to book ahead and produce a ticket on arrival.

“There is no charge, but it allows us to monitor numbers. Guests need to arrive within ten minutes of their booking slot.

“All food and drink will be table service only, with up to 60 guests each time.

“Regulations may alter as we near reopening and we ask guests to be aware we may have to adapt accordingly to adhere to social distancing.”

Located in the Corn Market, the Grade II listed White Hart is one of Wimborne’s oldest buildings.

It dates back to 1648, when it was originally used as stabling for Wimborne Minster.

The revised outside seating area is modelled around a bespoke cook out cabin, featuring a wood fired pizza oven and Big Green Egg BBQ and smoker, offering versatility in fresh cooked pub classics.

Sharon said: “We want to make the most of our spacious garden to run events and welcome both locals and visitors as people end lockdown, plan holiday breaks or enjoy reunions with their family and friends.

“Outdoor events such as cinema nights, our popular quiz nights, live music and screenings can be organised on our lawn, but they all have to adhere to safety guidance.

“The ethos is keep it simple, keep it safe, build confidence and go from there.

“We are proud to be part of this wonderful local community and we’re excited to welcome customers once again.”
