Tenth hotel for Daish’s Holidays

Family owned and operated Daish’s Holidays, which has three hotels in Dorset, has acquired the Esplanade Hotel in Scarborough.

It is Daish’s tenth hotel and complements the business’ existing portfolio of coastal destinations.

Paul Harper, Director of Sales and Marketing at Daish’s Holidays, said: “We have been on the lookout for a hotel in the area for a while as we know the location sits well within our group of hotels and is a popular destination for our customers.

“The Esplanade Hotel is a stunning building that boasts incredible views over the coastline which we are now proud to offer to our new and existing customers.”

Daish’s will roll out its existing, and proven-successful, business model across the new hotel, meaning that guests can enjoy nightly live entertainment and package deals including transport.

The Esplanade Hotel is a Victorian building situated overlooking South Bay.

Daish’s Holidays ten hotels include the Bournemouth Sands Hotel and Hotel Prince Regent and Russell Hotel in Weymouth.

The company also has its own fleet of 25 luxury coaches to transport guests in comfort from a number of pick up points across the UK, stretching from west Yorkshire to Cornwall.

They see Simon Fife, left, and Alex Blake, below, move up to Director level, Robert Lofthouse become an Associate Director and Phil Evans become an Associate.

Peter Lamb, Head of Planning at Savills Wimborne, said: “I want to extend my congratulations to these four individuals on their very well deserved promotions.

“Savills is dedicated to growing and promoting talent in our business.

“These promotions are a recognition of the hard work and excellent performance they have delivered, contributing to both the success of their teams as well as the wider Wimborne office.”

First trainees at Crumbs graduate at foundation level

The first graduates of the new Crumbs training programme received their foundation certificates at the charity’s annual lunch.

The new training programme is professionally recognised and endorsed by the Institute of Hospitality.

It provides progression for the trainees to develop their professional hospitality skills and obtain certification at the foundation, certificate and diploma level.

Founded 23 years ago, Bournemouth-based Crumbs focuses on hospitality training for adults with mixed abilities including mental health issues and stabilised addictions.

This is the first time that the trainees have been able to have their professional skills and achievements formally recognised in this way.

A total of 26 trainees graduated at foundation level.

Watched by friends, Crumbs staff, volunteers and supporters, the trainees were presented with their certificates by Professor Peter Jones MBE, the Chair of Crumbs.

He used the occasion, at Merley House, to thank staff, supporters, volunteers and trainees for their valued contribution in making the event so successful.

Ursula Boardman, Crumbs Training and Development Manager, said: “It’s really great to see our trainees getting the recognition they deserve through this professional certification.

“They all worked extremely hard in their training programme and we are looking at this certification to be able to show employers that they can rightfully take their place in any hospitality business.”
