The inaugural Bournemouth Writing Festival has revealed some of the speakers giving talks and interactive workshops during the two-and-a-half-day festival.

From next April 21 to April 23, award-winning, published and writing professionals will impart their knowledge and advice to local writers in practical and hands-on workshops and talks.

They range from TV & film screenwriters to a Richard & Judy Book Club winner as well as poets, comic and zine writers and publicists and publishers.

The speakers booked to date can be seen on a YouTube ‘reveal’ by clicking here.

In addition to talks and workshops, there will also be immersive writing activities designed to foster networking and inspire creativity in a range of fun and engaging events across Bournemouth Town Centre.

Organisers say that from writing on the beach to a poetry hunt, literary walks to genre breakfasts, there is something for all levels of writers to get their creative juices flowing.

Dominic Wong, Festival Co-Founder, said: “The speakers come mainly from our local writing community and are passionate about helping budding or more seasoned writers to improve and progress in their writing.

“The response we’ve had has been incredible and we look forward to announcing the full programme with tickets going on sale in the New Year.”

Fellow Co-Founder Ildiko SpinFisher, pictured left, added: “Dorset is famous for its literary links and we are finding so many talented and enthusiastic writers and authors in the area that it’s time to put Bournemouth back on the literary map.

“Our fun activities aim to connect local writers to create a thriving writing community.”

The Bournemouth Writing Festival is staged in venues in Bournemouth Town Centre.

A section to encourage children to write is currently being developed.

Sponsorship, advertising and volunteer opportunities are available.
