A Dorset digital product designer has merged his creative business with an independent technology company in Berkshire.

OutRoared, which was founded by Carl Cahill 18 months ago, and Salo Creative, headed by Rich Comber, collaborated on a number of successful projects during 2019.

They’ve now formally come together, adopting the name of Salo Creative.

The newly merged company says it will “deliver end-to-end, seamless projects in the digital space, focusing on creating digital products for businesses with unique challenges.”

Carl is a specialist in UI and UX design, working with a variety of web-based projects and helping businesses.

Rich Comber started as a specialist software engineering consultancy, delivering SaaS solutions and web applications to solve business challenges.

Salo Creative will now focus on designing and developing applications, platforms and web tools for aspiring brands and businesses.

Its clients include Facebook, NATS, Ordnance Survey, LUSH, Unity, Multiplay, University of Southampton, Purbeck Cider and EDEN Cloud Services.

Carl, who is now Creative Director with Salo Creative, said: “By combining our creative and technical services, it only makes us stronger and more equipped to handle the responsibilities we have for our clients.

“Brands and businesses need to think about the interfaces and tools they offer and how the current climate highlights the importance of good design and user experience.

“Now more than ever, people need to be able to quickly understand the information in front of them and how they interact and use systems.

“We’re also exploring how platforms and tools can be designed to deliver more collaborative experiences to not only enhance the businesses services and increase efficiency but also add value to the users.”

Rich, pictured left, who also founded his business in 2018, said: “UX & digital design is critical to modern applications.

“Users expect software to not only be fast and reliable but also easy to use and visually appealing.

“By merging with OutRoared we are now able to offer an end to end process, from inception through to delivery, with the same level of quality and guiding principles we founded Salo Creative on.

“We are working with companies to help them adapt to the current climate.

“With businesses working remotely and productivity decreased as employees juggle childcare, supermarket queues and full time jobs, now more than ever it is important to leverage digital platforms and technologies.

“From automating manual processes to providing tools to surface information quickly and aid decision making, technology cannot only help companies operate more effectively in the short term but also help them position themselves for future growth and recovery.”

Services offered by the new company include applications (web and native, iOS and Android), digital products, UX and UI and digital consultancy.

The merged business will operate from both Dorset and Berkshire.
