A family business which celebrates its centenary next year has landed two national awards.

Electrical goods retailer Dacombes of Wimborne won the ‘Turning Point Award’ and ‘Best Independent Consumer Electronics Retailer – Small’ categories at the 2019 ERT Awards.

The Turning Point Award is given to the independent electrical retailer demonstrating initiative and proven positive adaptation to their business model in order to thrive in the current retail climate.

Meanwhile the ‘Best Independent Consumer Electronics Retailer – Small’ is awarded to the independent consumer electronics retailer with an annual turnover under £2m.

The ERT Awards recognise excellence in the electrical retail industry.

Now in their 12th year, they are open to retailers and suppliers across the country.

This year’s awards ceremony was held at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London’s Covent Garden.

Jack Cheeseman, Editor of ERT Magazine, said: “Huge congratulations to all of this year’s winners. We had a record number of entries this year, which just goes to show the quality of electrical retailers we have in the industry today.

“With challenging market conditions and consumer confidence, it’s never been more important for retailers to stand out on the high street.”

Dacombes’ national success follows its recognition in the BHStar Awards 2019 where the retailer won ‘Best Shopping Experience’ for its high level of customer service and overall shopping experience.
