Mar-Key Group, the Christchurch-based temporary building manufacturer, are set to share their experiences exporting down under.
The business, which delivered its first Australian export in 2023, was approached by representatives of Made in Britain to talk on their upcoming ‘How to succeed in Australia’ webinar.
In 2023, Mar-Key Group was asked to design and manufacture a 210-metre sunshade to cover the grandstand seating on the pit straight for the Adelaide 500 motor race event.
Designed using their own in-house CAD and engineering teams, they developed a concept that could be constructed and dismantled for various events in South Australia over the coming years which would protect spectators from the elements.
With just two months from initial enquiry to delivery, the team worked around the clock to meet their client’s deadline and ensure the product arrived in Adelaide in time for the start of the famous car race.
Mar-Key Group’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) Paul Shelley led the operational aspect of the export and will be speaking at the Made in Britain webinar on 9th July.
He commented: “We’ve been members of the Made in Britain campaign since 2017 and use the Trademark to positively promote the British manufacturing industry.
“We’re delighted to have been invited to talk about our experience at the webinar. We certainly don’t claim to be experts as this was our first Australian export, but what we do hope to do is inspire other businesses who are considering beginning their export journey.”
He added: “There are so many fantastic British manufacturing businesses creating products that are of premium quality, and we hope to encourage others to consider the vast and exciting opportunities that Australia has to offer.”
The Chief Commercial Officer for the Australian British Chamber of Commerce, Paul Wright, will join Made in Britain’s CEO John Pearce to facilitate a Q&A session and hear from two of their members; Mar-Key Group and Lockabox. The webinar is free to attend, and tickets are available below:
