Glenda makes a great impression during the lockdown with special arts and crafts collages
A talented mum of two has come up with an innovative way of boosting the morale of parents as well as keeping their children entertained during the lockdown.
Glenda Hickmott, pictured left, has been running her business, Precious Memories, in Lytchett Matravers for the past 16 years.
She captures the ‘precious memories’ of her clients by creating gifts of 3D casts, 2D impressions, belly bumps and silver hand, foot and fingerprint jewellery and keepsakes for humans and pets.
Her products preserve each intricate crease and fold in perfect detail forever.
The gifts are ideal for special occasions including christenings, weddings, anniversaries, birthdays and Christmas with proud new parents and grandparents treasuring the gifts for years to come.
Glenda also deals with sensitive issues regarding memorial keepsakes working closely with funeral directors, hospitals and vets.
However, with the social distancing laws in force due to Covid-19 her studio is currently closed so creating memories is limited.
Glenda said: “It’s incredibly difficult as now, more than ever, creating precious memories to remind you of family and friends during this surreal time has never been so important
“I wanted to create something to boost morale for parents, as some were struggling with all this extra time on their hands and not knowing how to fill it, as well as keep their children entertained.
“To encourage some quality time together as a family I came up with the idea of expressing their ideas through art and crafts in a fun way.
“Each word when pieced together creates a very special message.
“Parents loved doing this as it gave the children a real sense of purpose and achievement.
“The final collage acts as a reminder of a time which no-one has ever experienced before.
“In years to come they will look back and be reminded of the precious memories they created.”
In addition to her casts, Glenda also provides hundreds of students with 1-2-1 in-depth training, enabling them to run their own businesses, with some from as far afield as India and Cyprus.
