A new magazine-style consumer podcast from Bournemouth-based Not Just Travel hit #36 in the iTunes chart less than 24 hours after its launch.

The Travel Podcast has features and interviews with industry experts, destination features on countries and cities and topical discussion around trends, as well as the latest news.

Its mission is to become the most listened to travel podcast with two new episodes each week.

The Travel Podcast is also giving the most up-to-date news on coronavirus as countries start to ease lockdown restrictions.

It also plans to offer a dose of inspiration and travel wanderlust so that listeners can start thinking about their next dream trip.

The podcast is hosted by industry experts, Not Just Travel’s own team, including Co-Founder Steve Witt, plus a panel of industry experts who deal with travel suppliers every day.

Each week there will be interviews with tourism organisations, airlines, holiday companies, bloggers and journalists.

The first episodes feature Las Vegas, how Australian tourism is rebuilding after the devastating bush fires earlier this year, the winter wonderland of Lapland and the sun-drenched isles of Antigua and Barbuda.

Upcoming episodes will feature Nashville, the home of country music; the white sands and tranquillity of Mauritius and the exotic Sri Lanka.

Steve, who co-founded Not Just Travel with Paul Harrison, said: “People might think now is a strange time to launch a travel podcast when we are in lockdown, but we think it’s the perfect time.

“Our aim is to create the most popular travel podcast available.

“Not only can we help people explore the world from the comfort of their homes and provide inspiration and a bit of joy during these tough times, we can also help give them the most up to date information as travel restrictions are lifted and the world begins to take its first steps out of lockdown.

“We can also give first class advice to customers about what they want to know now – what’s possible and what’s not – and keep them up to date.

“One billion YouTube searches per day, 182 million Netflix subscribers, one million podcasts on iTunes – the world wants on-demand content and podcasting has never been more popular.

“We want people to join our Travel Podcast community, get to know us and take us with them wherever they are.

“Each episode is 30 minutes long so it’s the perfect time to find out more about your next dream destination.”

The first episode of The Travel Podcast was made available on May 5 and, within 24 hours, hit #36 in the iTunes chart beating TEDTalks, Frank Skinner, Russell Brand and Tiger King Joe Exotic.

Steve said he was “blown away” by the reception the podcast had received.

He added: “To be in the Top 40 in our first day is fantastic.

“I think it’s down to the fact that travel is an addictive topic – everyone loves travel, and we have created an interesting format.

“It’s on-demand, ultra up-to-date and we’ve not shied away from talking about the travel industry and coronavirus.

“Everyone wants inspiration and something to look forward to during these tough times.

“We are all passionate about travel and we have been to the places we talk about so we speak from the heart and from experience.”

Not Just Travel sells bespoke, tailormade holidays via its 600-plus agents who work from home.
