Impressive client list from day one for new ‘one stop shop’ employment law and HR firm
A new firm which will act as a ‘one stop shop’ for all employment law and HR matters has started with an impressive client list.
Rayner Jones established Kemp Jones Solicitors with Michelle Kemp ten years ago providing employment law services to local businesses.
As reported on Dorset Biz News, Michelle has now started her own practice while Rayner launched Rayner Jones Employment Law & HR Services from the start of this month.
Clients coming over to the new business include established names such as Hobbycraft, Condor Ferries, Greendale Construction, 288 Group and Quadrant2Design.
Rayner, 55, said he believed his firm would be the first in the area to offer specialist employment law services as well as general HR advice under one roof.
He added: “It tends to be one or the other but not from the same firm.
“The heavy-duty legal work goes to the lawyer and the general HR advice to a HR consultancy.
“We provide specialist employment law advice and representation but can also help with day to day HR needs.
“We also represent clients in employment tribunals around the UK.
“I don’t particularly like the term but it really is a one stop shop.”
Rayner was a Partner and Head of the Employment team at Baines Wilson Solicitors LLP in the North of England for eight years.
He then joined Bournemouth-based Lester Aldridge in 2008 as Head of Commercial Group and Partner in the Employment team before leaving to start Kemp Jones two years later.
Rayner said his new practice had got off to a very busy start, dealing with queries from clients on a whole range of pandemic-related issues.
“All the usual employment work has gone but it’s been replaced by coronavirus work such as furloughing and some of the tough decisions companies will have to make when they run out of cash.
“It’s a completely different landscape from the one anticipated when I was planning the business at the beginning of the year but we certainly won’t be short of work,” Rayner said.
Rayner Jones Employment Law & HR Services is based on the Aviation Business Park at Bournemouth Airport.
