Individuality Swimming Founder and Managing Director Kristin Maguire has won a silver award in the 2023 Best Businesswomen Awards.
A successful entrepreneur and mother of three, Kristin started her business more than 20 years ago and has grown it to the point that it now serves 2,300 people across Dorset every week.
Kristin picked up silver in the Best Businesswomen Working with Children and Families category, which is open to women in businesses around the UK who are making a difference to the lives of children and families.
“I am so proud to win this award, and to be recognised for the value the business brings to children and families in Dorset,” said Kristin.
“We have an amazing community of swimmers, and our customers are so loyal and positive – our success has been built on their word-of-mouth recommendations. It is a privilege to be a woman in business doing something meaningful and making a positive difference to people’s lives.”
Individuality Swimming aims to provide high-quality and individualised learning for everyone – from Aqua Natal classes, to parent and baby sessions, to small group swimming, with no more than five children in a group, to one-to-one teaching.
It operates out of 14 locations across Dorset, seven days a week, including its own pool in Ferndown. Individuality is also a registered training academy and has trained 65 swimming teachers over the past few years.
“I am passionate about helping people of all ages gain water confidence and learn to swim; it is such a vital life skill, especially in a coastal community such as ours,” Kristin added.
“And I believe in our personalized approach, and creating a safe, supportive environment for all swimmers. I love being a woman in business and I love what I do. After all the hard work I’ve poured into Individuality Swimming, to be recognized with this award is a wonderful endorsement of the service we offer and what we do for our swimmers and their families.”
Founded in 2015, the Best Businesswomen Awards recognize and reward female business talent across an array of industries. More than 5,500 people have entered the awards since their launch, which have raised over £40,000 for charity over the years.
