Langham Wine Estate, based in the Dorset countryside, has been named The Real Review’s Winery of the Year Great Britain 2024. This prestigious award recognises Langham as one of the leading producers of English sparkling wine, following a fierce competition against other top wineries.
Now in its fourth year, The Real Review’s “Top Wineries of Great Britain” received a record number of entries. Over 10,000 wines were blind tasted by an international panel, including renowned wine writer Anthony Rose. Langham stood out for its consistent production of high-quality wines, earning it a spot in the top 14 per cent of Great Britain’s wine producers.
Langham’s head winemaker, Tommy Grimshaw, who took on the role at just 24, has been instrumental in this success. Tommy said: “It is always a great lift for the team when we are recognised by The Real Review. To be named their Winery of the Year Great Britain 2024 is even better! This award backs up the WineGB award earlier in the year for Winery of the Year 2024 and shows that we must be doing something right.”
Langham Wine Estate is renowned for its expressive, high-quality sparkling wines. The Real Review praised two of its most popular cuvées: the Chardonnay-based Corallian Classic Cuvée NV and the Pinot Noir-based Culver Classic Cuvée NV, calling them “stand-out cuvées in a stand-out range.”
This latest accolade is part of a growing list of honours for Langham. Earlier in 2024, they won four trophies at the WineGB Awards, including ‘Best NV/MV Classic Cuvée’ for their Corallian Classic Cuvée NV and ‘Best Blanc de Noirs’ for their Pinot Noir 2019.
Langham’s impressive track record extends to 2020 when the estate was crowned Best Sparkling Wine Producer at the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC), even outperforming some of the top French champagne houses.
Located in an 85-acre single vineyard with chalk soils and a south-facing aspect, Langham Wine Estate focuses on low-intervention winemaking, ensuring all their wines are vegan and vegetarian-friendly. Their wines are exclusively distributed by Liberty Wines in the UK.
