They’re called The Happy Blossoms but they’d be positively ecstatic if you helped them receive a ‘People’s Choice’ award.

The floristry company, based in the heart of the countryside near Wimborne, may have missed out on a final place after being shortlisted for the ‘Small Business of the Year’ category in the Independent Awards 2021.

But it’s still eligible for the ‘People’s Choice’ award along with 19 other entrants.

The winner and runner-up will receive £10,000 and £5,000 respectively.

Mother and daughter duo Barbara and Lauren Hooper started The Happy Blossoms in 2018.

Lauren, 38, completed an enterprise course with The Prince’s Trust after leaving teaching and completing a diploma in floristry at Kingston Maurward College.

She then trained up her mum, Barbara, 62, in floristry before opening their flower shop in Poundbury.

After a surge in demand for their business, they now have a team of ten working from a studio near Wimborne where they dispatch fresh and dried flowers across the UK each day.

The Happy Blossoms are particularly known for their love of everything bold and colourful.

The family-run business is the creator of The Baked Blossoms™, an ‘Insta-famous’ range of dried flower bunches available nationwide across the UK.

With over 90,000 followers on Instagram, The Happy Blossoms say they’re on a mission to spread beautiful blooms to everyone, reinventing floral gifting to have a touch of pure magic.

All packaging is recyclable or compostable, five per cent of profits are donated to conservation charities and the team is a climate positive workforce.

Lauren said: “We had to get creative in lockdown.

“Our Baked Blossoms™ dried flower concept – as well as launching our delivery service nationwide – was a lifesaver.

“We are so glad all our hard work is being recognised.

“We are so proud to be a successful family-run business here in Dorset.

“It just shows if you are passionate about what you do, dreams can come true!”

The Independent Awards are run by Holly & Co a platform that champions independent businesses across the UK.
