Kwik Fit has opened a new centre in Christchurch with one of its customers invited to take part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Andy Watkins, and his canine companions, joined Marius Meciar, Operations Manager for Kwik Fit’s Southern Division and Centre Manager David Firth, and his team.

The centre, in Somerford Road, is the first new Kwik Fit to be opened in Dorset for more than a decade.

To mark the opening, this Friday and Saturday sees a treat for motor racing fans.

On display at the centre will be one of the cars from the 2022 team winners of the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship, NAPA Racing UK’s Ford Focus ST.

As well as getting up close to the car driven by three-time BTCC champion Ash Sutton, there will also be the opportunity for any budding race fans to test their own driving skills.

Mobil’s Formula 1 simulator will be at the centre from 08.30 to 18.00 on Friday and 08.30 to 17.00 on Saturday.

Visitors will be able to get behind the wheel on a first come first served basis.

The minimum height to participate is approximately five feet due to the positioning of the controls.

David Firth, pictured left, said: “This is a brilliant centre in a great location that will be really convenient for our customers.

“We’d like to thank Andy Watkins for joining us in cutting the ribbon.

“As the centre is brand new, we have all the very latest equipment, ensuring we can support local motorists with whatever they need.

“We have a team of six and we are all looking forward to keeping the town’s drivers safe on the road, wherever their journeys are taking them.”

The centre, at Unit 1 & 2, 143-146 Somerford Road, will provide Kwik Fit’s full range of products and services including tyres, brakes, servicing and MOTs.

As well as cars, the centre can accommodate light commercial vehicles (LCVs) including offering Class 7 MOTs.

It is open seven days a week.

Established in 1971, the Kwik Fit Group is one of the largest independent automotive parts, repair and replacement specialists in the world.

It has over 600 service centres across the UK, as well as a nationwide fleet of mobile tyre fitting vehicles, and specialises in tyres, brakes, exhausts, MOT and servicing.
