Two ‘mumpreneurs’ who set up a family friendly business are really cleaning up in Bournemouth.

Bonny Mayorga and Chelsea Watts launched Be Free From Cleaning last year after meeting on the mums’ app, Mush.

Both wanted to return to work after having children but were determined that it should fit around their sons

Bonny, 35,  who worked in the hotel industry for several years including, latterly, as Reservations Manager at Bournemouth’s Hotel Miramar, said: “You work so hard to build a career, have a child and then have to start all over again with a clean slate.

“I come from an entrepreneurial background and wanted one day to start up on my own but I had no idea what to do.

“However, I’ve always loved cleaning. It’s the ultimate stress-buster, burns calories and the time goes so quickly.

“It’s also a cheap business to start up and grow very quickly.”

Chelsea, 29, said she and Bonny had explored all sorts of options before hitting upon Be Free From Cleaning.

“We were determined to put our families at the heart of the business. Our boys come first.

“Hours are worked around our children and our clients are very understanding because, in many cases, they also have young children.”

Just over six months after launching the business – and using social media to spread the word and drum up customers – the duo have more than 50 clients with a team of ten women assisting them.

They started with £0 in the bank.

“It’s incredible how it’s developed but we’re absolutely loving it,” said Bonny, who’s married with a two-year-old son, Krish.

“A lot of our clients are actually hectic mums who want to spend as much time as possible with their children.”

Chelsea, a single mum who also has a son, Atlas, aged two, said hourly cleaning rates varied according to requirements but started from about £13.

“We offer everything from one-off deep cleans to regular housekeeping as well as ironing and home help when required,” she said.

Bonny and Chelsea could soon be polishing their own trophy after qualifying as finalists in the New Business Start-Up category of this year’s The Family Network Recognition Business Awards.

The winners will be announced at a black tie awards ceremony at Bournemouth’s DoubleTree Hilton on Saturday, March 28.

Chelsea said: “We’re so excited about it and can’t wait to meet the other finalists as well.”

Bonny added: “We want other young mums to know that you can start a business from nothing.

“With hard work and a belief in yourself you really can achieve anything – and we’re proof of that.”
