Natural synergy highlighted as Dorset Business Mentors lands sponsorship deal with Investec

A business organisation which links volunteer mentors with owners has landed its first sponsorship deal.

Investec Wealth & Investment is to sponsor Dorset Business Mentors, formerly known as Dormen.

Founded in 2005, Dorset Business Mentors’ mission is to improve the resilience and growth of businesses in the county.

The mentors, who number more than 120, come from a wide range of backgrounds at senior management level.

The spread of expertise allows the service to effectively match the needs of individual businesses at all stages of development.

More than 1.600 businesses have been helped by the service in the last 15 years.

Paul Cartwright, Chairman, pictured left, said the contribution of Investec would help ensure the support provided to Dorset business owners continued to be affordable and enriched.

He added: “We find a natural synergy in the vision and quality of our two organisations’ service to clients.

“We look forward to working in close relationship to deliver an informative programme designed for Dorset’s ambitious and successful entrepreneurs and business owners.”

The Dorset Business Mentors programme is majority funded by Dorset Council and BCP Council.

Additional funding is provided by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

Currently ERDF is funding free access to the Dorset Business Mentors programme for up to three months.

The core service provides the opportunity for a business to be linked to a mentor 1:1 in return for a contribution to administrative costs of £200 for up to 12 months, renewable annually thereafter.

The programme allows business owners to access additional expertise among the mentors as needed, role mentoring for senior management, fully funded skills development courses and peer to peer networking opportunities.
