A multi-award-winning restaurateur has chosen one of Dorset’s oldest pubs – and his local – for his latest venture.
Andy Lennox has joined forces with landlord Nick Pestana to form a joint partnership at The Old Thatch Wimborne.

Together they will be transforming the 17th century pub into a gastro pub, kitchen and country store at the heart of the community.
On offer will be an array of freshly baked bread and cakes, local meats, eggs and dairy produce as well as household essentials.
The Old Thatch food menu will be locally focused with produce sourced from an array of suppliers in and around Dorset.
It will feature British inspired gastro cuisine and fresh local produce, both within the kitchen and sold at the store.
The menu will include a balanced selection of butchery, seafood and veg served in a relaxed environment.
Andy said: “When we moved into the area a few years ago the pub became our local.
“I’ve watched with great interest as Nick transformed the pub with his excellent stewardship.
“Now with Covid-19 receding it’s time to take the pub to the next level.
“The pub will continue its award-winning community credentials, whilst we develop the kitchen quality, the new country store and the bakery.
“We can’t wait to serve the first pint on April 12.”
The Old Thatch in Wimborne Road West sits opposite Stapehill Abbey.
It is just off the Castleman Trailway linking Wimborne to Ferndown and Ringwood to Poole.

Nick has been the landlord of the pub since 2018.
He said: “You can be assured of a warm welcome, for a cold pint, a glass of wine, a local gin and tonic, artisan baking, to grab provisions from the store or enjoy a meal.
“We’re all set to offer it all.
“Our aim is to become the centre of the community for those living in and around Stapehill, Colehill, and Ferndown but you’ll still receive a warm welcome if you’re just passing through or dropping in after a long walk or cycle ride.

“These are exciting times for the Old Thatch and team.”
The Old Thatch is the third new venture for Andy since the start of the first lockdown in March 2020.
Last year he launched his second African cuisine restaurant, Zim Braai 2, in Bournemouth and also new high-end Thai restaurant brand, Nusara, in Christchurch.
