Welcome back to 20 Questions, the format which sees us asking some of Dorset’s leading lights a series of part fun/part serious questions.

This week we put Sharon Parker, Managing Director of Studio Global, under the spotlight.

Her childhood hero was Jennifer Aniston, she’d use her time on a desert island to learn guitar, and is currently learning to ballroom dance.

What is your favourite TV show?

Below Decks. I love seeing all the amazing locations, and some of the not so amazing charter guests!

Who would you like to share a car with?

James Corden for his carpool karaoke! I love a good sing off in the car!

The best bit of my job is..?

Seeing how our awesome team’s creativity can transform a business’ identity, inside and out.

And the worst?

The feast and famine of running a small business.

Who was your childhood hero?

Jennifer Anniston – the Rachel haircut, I mean come on!!

What’s your favourite smell?

Sun cream. It immediately transports me to a fabulous, sunny holiday destination.

Where’s your favourite place in Dorset?

It has got to be Durdle Door, especially when there’s no one about – rare but beautiful!

What advice would you give to anyone starting out on a career

It’s ok not to have everything figured out! Work hard, show enthusiasm and learn from your mistakes.

What was your first record/CD?

Kim Appleby – I still remember all the words!

Do you have a favourite piece of music?

There are so many, but I love The Ludlows (theme from Legends of the Fall). It’s a gorgeous piece of music. Or, if you’re asking for my favourite song, Hold On by Wilson Phillips is one I would sing loudest!

What qualities do you look for in a new employee?

Showing interest and enthusiasm is key. A willingness to learn and ask questions can take you a long way.

What’s your favourite food or dish?

I love, love, love sea food, and pizza – I occasionally combine the two and voila!!

What three things would you take to a desert island?

A guitar, a learn how to play the guitar book, and a boat! I’d have a lovely time.

What’s the best thing about living/working in Dorset?

The best thing is the beach. I feel very lucky to live and work somewhere so lovely – we’ve got it all!

If you were Prime Minister for a day, what’s the first thing you’d do?

Wow, this a tough one… so many things! I’d Introduce a flat income tax rate, or maybe arresting dog owners for not picking up their dog’s poo!

What’s your biggest frustration?

When time and energy is wasted focusing on the problem, rather than the solution.

Where’s your favourite holiday location?

There are so many wonderful places! I’ve just come back from Zakynthos, Greece, and the sea, the food and the people were incredible – I fell in love with the place!

What would surprise people the most about you?

I’m learning to ballroom dance! It’s cooler than it sounds, right?!

Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time?

Chartering a boat and appearing on Below Decks – as the nicest guest ever, of course!

What would you like to be remembered for?

Being fun and kind.
