This month we meet Trustee Peter Brooks.

Why did you become a trustee?

I wanted to make a practical contribution and to make a difference in my community and considered that my business background and experience equipped me with the skills to achieve this goal.

How long have you been involved with the charity?

Two and a half years.

What’s your career background?

The whole of my working life has been in the food industry with multi-national companies, covering the UK, Europe, Africa & the Middle East. Latterly, three colleagues and I acquired Del Monte International Manufacturing and Marketing Operations for the above territories, in a Management Buy Out.

What do you bring to the charity in terms of expertise & knowledge?

Management direction & Profit & Loss responsibility. A proven record of working with people from different cultures & backgrounds. A long- time interest in participation in charitable groups & raising substantial funds.

What is your proudest achievement as a Trustee?

Super-efficient management throughout the charity, in a friendly environment and a commitment by the staff to achieve the aims and objectives of the charity.

With Christmas creeping upon us, it’s time to start thinking about sending Christmas cards to friends, family and colleagues.

We are delighted to offer a selection of stunning Lewis-Manning Christmas cards, which can be purchased in our retail shops or via our website.

We’re proud of our dedicated and committed team,

This month we spoke to Trevor Arthur, Finance Office and Company Secretary, to find out about the person behind the Excel spreadsheets.

What’s the best thing about your job?

I get to work in an environment where we all care passionately about what we do and know that what I do facilitates the hospice in making a real difference in people’s lives.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever been given?

When climbing the career ladder make sure you have put the ladder up against the right wall!

Tell us something about yourself that we wouldn’t know

  • I once won a Rubik’s Cube competition completing 47 cubes in one hour.
  • I was capped four times for the Ulster Under-16 cricket team.
  • I’m an avid cyclist having cycled nearly 5000 kms in the last year.

Describe yourself in three words

Honest, reliable, pragmatic.

If you were going to rule the world for the day, what law would you introduce?

Pass a law ensuring nobody would live in fear, poverty and slavery.

Your best place for a holiday is?

Travelling through the national parks and icefields of Western Canada.

Our aim is to help as many local people as possible, who are dealing with a life limiting illness, to live their precious lives well.
