Bournemouth entrepreneur Ty Temel is planning to visit Turkey after the devastating earthquake which has become the worst disaster in the country’s modern history.
The businessman, who has interests in hospitality, fitness and events, has family and friends in the country.
He has set up a GoFundMe page allowing people to donate money to Ahbap, a not-for-profit, voluntary organisation.
Within five days the page had raised more than £5,220 from 82 donors.
Ty, pictured, told Dorset Biz News: “A huge thank you for everyone that’s trusted me with their money.
“It’s going to make a real life-changing difference to the people of Turkey.
“I’ll be flying out myself to meet my family and ensure it’s used correctly to help the people affected by the disaster.
“We are nearly halfway to the target.
“Let’s keep pushing, sharing and donating. Thank you.”
Ty came forward with his GoFund page after researching how to channel aid in order to make sure the correct people got the correct support.
He said: “After speaking to my father, family and friends, who are all out there, they have said the main need for these people is homes, shelter, hygiene, so they can start to rebuild some form of life.
“Although it’s very cold in some areas, they are generally well-fed and clothed and have asked for no more items like that to be sent but help for accommodation and recovery solutions.
“Therefore, we’ve reached out to a suitable not-for-profit, voluntary organisation,
“They have pledged to deliver thousands of containers to affected regions.
“The containers will be kitted out and used as homes, schools, elderly care centres and many other similar services.
“This organisation has now got permission to deliver 2,000 of these container homes to Hatay, a severely affected area. These will be delivered within days.
“They are now waiting for permission to deliver more to other areas too.
“Fundraising has begun to fund these, from buying the container, kitting it out and delivering to the areas.”

Ty admitted times were tough in the UK.
But, he added: “Whatever you can spare would be a great help.
“I am planning on heading out soon with a small group to help where we can once the rescue crews have done their bit as, currently, we would just be getting in their way.”
