Sandra Redknapp joins Lewis-Manning Hospice Care as Patron

We’re delighted to announce that Sandra Redknapp is joining her husband, Harry, as one of our Patrons.

Sandra, pictured with Harry and our CEO, Clare Gallie, joins with a vast knowledge of the Dorset community and is passionate about helping local lives in the area.

She said: “I am very pleased to be asked to be part of the Lewis-Manning Hospice Care team and join as Patron of this fantastic charity.

“The hospice has gone through lots of changes over the past 18 months and it’s wonderful to see the extraordinary care, innovation and resilience it has, particularly during the pandemic.

“The hospice is accomplishing so much at the moment, and I’m very excited to be part of the future of this remarkable charity hospice.

“I will, hopefully,  try and persuade Barney, our bulldog, to attend one of the ‘Paws on their Walks’ events.”

Clare said: “We are all over the moon that Sandra has agreed to be Patron of Lewis-Manning Hospice Care.

“It will be great to work together and she is a fantastic addition to our growing team of Patrons.”

This month we have a chat with our Trustee, Ian Marshall.

Why did you become a trustee?

I believe in the work of hospices – especially at my age – and enjoy using my professional skills in the service of an interesting and valuable cause.

How long have you been involved with the charity?

Around six years.

What’s your career background?

I am a chartered accountant who has mainly worked in financial services but has also been involved with several charities over the past 20 years.

What do you bring to the charity in terms of expertise and knowledge?

I hope I bring financial expertise, management experience and knowledge of the charity sector.

What is your favourite thing about being a LMHC trustee?

Working with great people who are focused on making LMHC successful.

By donating your clothes, shoes, bags, sunglasses, suits (the list is endless!) you’ll be helping to provide extraordinary hospice care in your community.

What’s the best thing about your job?

A couple of things – having a purpose, knowing that we are all working to help our patients and also the variety of the work.

Every day is different and you never know what to expect!

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever been given?

Believe in yourself.

Tell us something about yourself that we wouldn’t know

I have sung at the Albert Hall as part of the Bedfordshire Youth Choir.

Describe yourself in three words.

Caring, open, friendly.

If you were going to rule the world for the day, what law would you introduce?

Every person should have the right to feel safe and have access to food, shelter and medical care.

Your best place for a holiday is?

India. I have been to India many times to lots of different places and loved them all.

It is varied, at times slightly mad but the people, culture, weather, beaches, food and experiences are all wonderful.

Our aim is to help as many local people as possible, who are dealing with a life limiting illness, to live their precious lives well.
