Air ambulance charity hopes 500 places for 5K Twilight Shift will be taking off in record time

Just 500 places are available for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance’s popular 5K Twilight Shift this summer.

The first 100 adults who enter will receive a free t-shirt.

For the third year running, the event will take place at Henstridge Airfield on the Dorset/Somerset border; the operational base for the charity’s life-saving critical care team.

Participants can run, jog, or walk the 5K and enter as an individual, as a family or a group.

You can take part as a serious runner, or simply use it to have fun and exercise on what will, hopefully, be a beautiful late afternoon on Saturday July 6.

Organisers say businesses or groups might like to use the event as an opportunity for team building or in-house competitions with friends and colleagues.

Participants can wear fancy dress for a bit of fun or, if more experienced, 5K runners might want to carry a bit of extra weight.

The event isn’t competitive so you can go at whatever pace you want.

The charity hopes that anyone who is fortunate to gain a place will use the opportunity to raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship.

Alana Hardy, Fundraising Events Officer, said: “Our 5K Twilight Shift is always an inspiring event and we are hoping to build on the success of previous years and make this one better than ever.

“It’s really special, as people who take part, get to meet members of our crew and often see the aircraft depart should our team be needed to respond to an incident.

“The atmosphere is really fun, but the cause is so very important.

“People who join us on the day and raise money in sponsorship will be helping us to continue saving lives, today, tomorrow and in the future.

“I would encourage everyone, no matter your age or ability to register and take part.

“We can’t wait to see you there!”
