A cutting-edge event which will showcase innovation around the new phenomenon of neuromarketing is to be hosted at Bournemouth University (BU) this month.

Neuromarketing involves studying consumer brain responses to marketing stimuli.

The topic is grabbing attention from top consumer brands on a global scale because of its significant success in understanding the decisions consumers go through in their purchasing ‘journey’.

The BU event involves two high profile keynote speakers – Katie Hart and John Hogan – as well as a neuroscience equipment demonstration by Rob Ellis from COG Research.

A discussion panel will follow.

Katie Hart is an international speaker, trainer and researcher in the field of neuromarketing.

She is the owner of Rhetonic Ltd, a company set up to bring psychology into the workplace, through innovative applications in the fields of marketing and training.

Katie will speak about the latest knowledge and insights provided in the newly emerging field of neuromarketing.

John Hogan is a research fellow in consumer neuroscience at University College London, and also the scientist and programme manager at Deliveroo.

He will share his insights from providing cognitive neuroscience to clients such as Virgin Media, Amazon and MacClaren and McCann.

The Mike Warne Event 2020 is in memory of the late Mike Warne who was the South West Regional Director of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM).

It is now in its 14th year and has been jointly organised by Bournemouth University final year Marketing Communications students and the CIM.

It is held on Wednesday February 26 at BU’s Talbot Campus in the SHARE lecture theatre in the Fusion Building.

Tickets must be purchased through the CIM website and can be booked directly here.

Caitlyn Walters, a member of the Mike Warne Event Committee and a BU final year Marketing Communications student said: “These events have gained such a great reputation over the last 14 years and always guarantee an excellent turn out.

“We are keen to engage with businesses and students in Bournemouth to encourage individuals to come along to share the learning experiences we are offering.

“Tickets need to be booked through the CIM website as soon as possible because spaces are quickly filling up.”
