A family festival is set to bring families and the community together with ‘laughter and joy’ when it’s staged on the outskirts of Wimborne this summer, according to its founder and organiser.

The fourth Family Fest is on the weekend of Saturday July 24 and Sunday July 25 from 11am to 7pm.

The event is supporting Cherry Tree Nursery & YMCA Bournemouth.

Features of this year’s Family Fest include:

  • 50-plus traders from Dorset & surrounding counties in a Traders Village
  • 20-plus hours of live music across two stages from local artists
  • Mascot appearances from Tooth Fairy & Y-Man across the weekend
  • Charity Dog show by Waggy Tails Rescue with a selection of different competitions including Temptation Alley, Best 6 Legs, Best Rescue, Waggiest Tail and more
  • Family Funfair including tea cups, bungee trampolines, play centre and hook-a-duck
  • Inflatable Zone including mega slide, bungee run, sumo suits, bouncy castles and splat the rat
  • Eco Hub with Our Planet Zero Waste
  • Active Zone with Beryl
  • Family & Friends Fun Zone
  • Licensed bar providing local artisan gins, soft drinks, beer, wine and spirits
  • Food corner with burgers, hot dogs, nachos, Mexican and chicken wraps

Entry is priced at £1 for anyone aged six or over.

Some activities are free to participate but there are charges for others.

Prices will be displayed by traders and activity providers on the day.

Founder and organiser Rob Batson, pictured left, created the event in late 2017.

His vision was to provide a small festival that could be enjoyed by the community, locally and further afield.

The first event, in April 2018, was at Branksome Recreation Ground. moving to Kings Park the following year.

The 2020 festival was held virtually.

This year’s event is being held at The Meadows, Julian’s Road, Wimborne, near Julian’s Bridge.

Rob, who is the Founder of Coast Print & Design, said: “We’re proud to bring families and the community together with a range of traders, activities, laughter and joy across 12 acres of working farm land within the beautiful Dorset countryside with a ten-minute walk into the heart of Wimborne Minster – supporting local charities Cherry Tree Nursery & YMCA Bournemouth.”

Family Fest 2021 partners include Coast Print & Design, Hot Radio, Yellow Buses, Beryl, Titan Tents Ltd, Waterside Emergency Medical Services and Townsend Community Growers.

Limited car parking is available on site.

It’s recommended that people should come by bike (own or Beryl), walk or catch a bus from either Bournemouth or Poole to the festival site.

Any enquiries, including trading pitch hire or to add activities to the offerings, to info@familyfestdorset.co.uk.
