And finally (as they say in TV news land) 'star' pig Neville trots off to his new forever home

A Dorset charity which rescues and rehomes over 1,200 animals every year has said a fond farewell to one of its most popular residents.

Neville the pig has trotted off to his forever home after several years of love and attention at Margaret Green Animal Rescue‘s Church Knowle Rehoming and Visitor centre.

The Kune Kune cross Vietnamese pot bellied pig has stolen the hearts of staff, volunteers and visitors since first coming to the centre in 2014.

Arriving as a piglet, Neville learnt to respond to clicker training, could sit and weave between his carers’ legs, provided a great source of amusement for visitors and was great for his mental stimulation.

He also loved a chat with everyone and a good scratch with the broom from his carers.

Neville also became something of a star, featuring in local and national press and hosting his own Instagram page.

He’s now been rehomed locally at an undisclosed location.

Jazmin House, Fundraising and Marketing Manager, pictured right, said: “Neville was quite the character and had a lot of ‘fans’.

“They are just as thrilled as all the staff that he has been rehomed to a location where he has everything a pig could wish, as well as lots of love, care and one to one interaction.

“He is one lucky pig.”

Within hours of Neville going to his new home the centre received pictures showing him in his new abode.

Jazmin added: “By the looks of it he has fallen on his trotters and settled in well.

“Everyone will miss lovable Nev but are so pleased to see him happy and thoroughly enjoying being with his forever family.”

Margaret Green Animal Rescue was founded by Margaret Green in 1965 and has three sites, two in Dorset and one in Devon.

The Church Knowle Rehoming and Visitor Centre covers 35 acres of Purbeck countryside.

It is home to cats, horses, donkeys, pigs, sheep, goats, rabbits, chickens, ducks and many more species.

It is also a visitor centre and the charity’s head office which houses the finance, retail and fundraising teams.
