Matt Peacock, MD of Star Tech Ltd in Poole, explains the importance of cabin health in our car.

With summer approaching and lockdown lifting, naturally we are all finding ourselves back at the wheel on a more regular basis.

Something few motorists think of, as they jump straight back into the driver’s seat, is the effect that a prolonged period of inactivity has had on the ventilation and air conditioning unit within their vehicle.

Cars are built to be driven and lengthy periods of standing can bring problems.

Whether you are using your vehicle’s heater or air conditioning system, condensation can build due to dark, damp and warm conditions.

This can become a breeding ground for harmful bacteria, mould and fungi.

When the system is turned on, bacteria is drawn through the vehicle’s air vents into the car’s interior and straight into your airways.

This can cause:

  • Infections & sore throats
  • Allergic reactions
  • Eye irritation
  • Unpleasant, musty odours

Across the board we have become more conscious of health and cleanliness, so how can we improve the air quality in our cabins?

Well, here at Star Tech using our latest technology, we can now offer the Forte Power-Clean AC Service.

We can service your car’s ventilation system and eliminate bacteria within your air con system.

What is more, it sanitises all surfaces within your vehicle’s cabin.

Power-Clean AC will:

  • Kill 99.9% of bacteria including Sars-Cov-2 (Covid-19)
  • Remove bad odours
  • Remove nicotine/vaping odours
  • Leave a fresh aroma
  • Prevent bacterial build up for at least six months

This means you can breathe easy and enjoy peace of mind.

Top Tip:

If your air conditioning no longer blows cold, it will most likely be due a re-gas which is best carried out every two years. You can help reduce the build-up of musty smells and bacteria by running your air conditioning all year round.

Pop it on once a week through the winter months to help keep it in good working order.
