Dorset based Barker Laundry & Dry Cleaning has successfully raised £6,000 for 3 local charities from a series of fundraising initiatives. During January MD Matthew Barker has taken time out to present the nominated charities with a cheque for £2,000 each.
The business announced in 2023 that it was fundraising for 3 local youth charities, to mark His Majesty King Charles 111 Coronation year. Various activities took place throughout the year, including an online charity auction and the business raised an impressive £6,000 to share between the 3 nominated charities: Elevate Foundation, Boo Charity and Life Education Wessex & Thames Valley.
MD Matthew Barker said, “As a Royal Warrant holding business we were really keen to do our bit to celebrate and mark the occasion of the Coronation. We chose three charities that are focused on the education and support of young people and are largely volunteer led.
“We are delighted at the support that our fundraising had, from donations to our charity auction, to the generosity of those taking part and kind donations from our fabulous clients. In early 2024 I visited each of our nominated charities and met with the charity leaders.”
Elevate Foundation exists to provide support and give opportunities for all young people to build their resilience and strength and is dedicated to building an organisation that will have a deep and lasting impact on the lives of young people and their families in the community that it serves across Dorset.
Life Education Wessex & Thames Valley empowers children aged between 3 and 13 to stay safe and make positive, healthy decisions.
Boo Charity is a charity run by Trustees and a team of volunteers, supporting African children
“We are absolutely delighted at the support that our fundraising had, from donations to our charity auction, to the generosity of those taking part and kind donations from our fabulous clients. In early 2024 I’ve taken the time to visit each of our nominated charities and met with the charity leaders.”
