Barker scores again as laundry and dry cleaner sponsors rugby club for 11th consecutive year

Laundry and dry cleaning boss Matthew Barker has been thanked for his “phenomenal” support after his company renewed its sponsorship of Bournemouth Rugby for the 11th consecutive year.

Dorset-based Barker, the UK’s largest domestic laundry and a leading specialist dry cleaner, has led the pack with its commitment and support for the club since 2010.

Matthew, who is Barker’s Managing Director, said: “We are really pleased to be behind the progression of Bournemouth Rugby Club (BRFC), particularly after such a difficult period for everyone.

“I’m happy to be doing my bit to help this brilliant community rugby club fight hard for the next winning season.

“They are a thriving club working at the heart of the local communities which it serves.

“At Barker we share our company values of ‘integrity and respect for one another’ with Bournemouth Rugby – a game that brings people together from all walks of life.”

Simon Carkeet, Chairman of Bournemouth Rugby, said: “Matthew Barker’s commitment to BRFC is absolutely phenomenal.

“He shows his support in so many ways, helping us to lead the club’s journey and steer its development.

“We are extremely grateful for his ongoing commitment.

“It makes a huge difference to us.”

Established in 1893, Bournemouth Rugby operates four Senior Teams, Academy/Colts, Girls, U6 – U16 Youth and Mini, Adult and Youth Wheelchair and Social Touch Rugby with a thriving membership of around 1,000.

Bournemouth’s 1st XV play in the South West Premier League, a level five league in the English rugby union system.

Bournemouth Rugby host a Youth and Mini Festival each year which takes place during a weekend in the Easter holidays.

They welcome around 160 teams over two days, with approximately 3,000 attending.

There are also plans to host a separate girls specific festival. Dates to be confirmed.
