Greendale Construction strengthens team with four new recruits

Greendale Construction, the Poole-based Chartered Building Company, has strengthened its team with four new recruits.

  • Jake Martin, Quantity Surveyor/Contracts Manager. He previously worked as a Quantity Surveyor for Marbank Construction and has extensive experience of large commercial, industrial and retail projects.
  • Ben Clark, Graduate Quantity Surveyor/Contracts Manager. With a BSc (Hons) in Construction Management, and an HNC in Construction Management (CITB), he gained previous experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor for Wilson Hutton Associates.
  • Matt Baker, Bid Manager. Joining in December, Matt holds an HNC in Construction from the University of Central England.  Experienced in managing multi-million-pound projects, his previous roles included working as an Architectural Technician for clients including the Home Office, police forces and public sector clients. Before joining Greendale, Matt spent five years years as a Pre-Construction Manager, running the southern office of a glazing contractor.
  • David Erricker, Contracts Manager/Quantity Surveyor, Small Works Division. He has a wealth of construction experience having worked previously as a Freelance Building Surveyor. David will be involved with the management of a number of new small works projects, including Lilliput School, Poole, and Wimborne fire station.

Maria Seabright, HR and Finance Director, pictured left, said: “After the uncertainty the Covid-19 pandemic placed upon many SMEs, Greendale is absolutely delighted to be in a position to continue forging ahead with its expansion plans.

“Ben, Jake, Matt and David are all strong additions to the Greendale team, and with business busier than ever, our recruitment drive continues across all sectors and levels within the firm; bolstering our expertise, as well as offering the opportunity to join a respected and solid construction company with exciting projects spanning the South West and beyond.”

Charity donation treasure identified by Wareham jewellers

It was a scenario worthy of the Antiques Roadshow.

Antique jewellers Heirlooms of Wareham were approached by a charity who had received a donation of a rather unusual ring and wanted to know if it was of any value.

The striking diamond and onyx ‘domino’ dress ring in yellow gold was immediately identified by Heirlooms owner Amy Brenan as a superb example of Art Deco jewellery from the 1920s and valued at £800.

Amy said: “It’s a beautiful piece in excellent condition given its age.

“It’s got a playful element as it is based on a domino.

“The 1920s and 30s were a popular time of gambling and gaming, and the contrast between black and white was very on trend then.

“Think Coco Chanel, The Great Gatsby and geometric designs.”

As a qualified member of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain, the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and a member of the Society of Jewellery Historians, Amy, pictured left, has also been a valuer on TV’s Dickinson’s Real Deal.

The domino ring takes centre stage with its story in the window of Heirlooms for all to enjoy but it is for sale to raise funds for Julia’s House.

If you’re interested in buying the ring, please call Amy or Jo on 01929 554207.

All proceeds will go to Julia’s House as Heirlooms will not be taking a commission for selling the piece.
