Dorset Mind restarts support group for Verwood

Dorset Mind is to hold its mental health support group ‘Wellbeing in Mind’ every fortnight at St Michael’s Parish Centre in Verwood.

The first was held on Tuesday July 19, 7-9pm.

The group comprises a guided two-hour session, helping participants explore their experiences of mental health and benefit from peer support and educative wellbeing workshops.

It was paused during Covid when all face-to-face services had to move online.

Linda O’Sullivan, Dorset Mind CEO, pictured left, said: “A group like ‘Wellbeing in Mind’ can help a community come together and teach them how to support their most vulnerable.

“This is particularly relevant in Verwood as the community is so tightly knitted due to the locality.”

Dr Andrew Mayers, Dorset Mind Patron and Principal Academic at Bournemouth University, pictured right, added: “Having our groups return to face-to-face delivery following lockdown is great news for all those we support in that part of Dorset.”

To contribute towards funding the project, Meyers Estate Agents – friends of Dorset Mind and corporate partners – has pledged to donate £100 for every property sale they complete.

Further information about Dorset Mind’s 1-2-1 and group support across Dorset can be found here.
