Golden Horizon’s visit to Poole is postponed
Golden Horizon, the world’s largest square-rigged sailing vessel, has been forced to delay a ‘dress rehearsal’ voyage around the south coast.
The announcement follows the government’s decision to delay the lifting of legal restrictions on social contact for a further four weeks.
Golden Horizon, a steel-hulled, five-mast cruise ship, was due to arrive in Poole this Sunday, June 27, but the trip has been cancelled over Covid fears.
Tradewind Voyages, which operates the 272-guest vessel, has been working hard to redesign its UK season.
Golden Horizon will now visit Poole for the first time on Tuesday July 6.
A further two further visits are scheduled for Monday July 12 and Thursday July 29.

Businesses back 100-mile challenge for Great Ormond Street Hospital
Two businesses got behind a 100-mile challenge across the south coast to raise funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Tom Cross, dad Jerry Cross and uncle Chris Shrubb, who comes from Charmouth, completed the distance through a combination of swimming, cycling, walking and running and all within 72 hours.

The fundraising challenge was organised after Tom tragically lost his son, Finn, after only nine short days and despite the fantastic care of the hospital.
Tom said “We want some good to come from this heart-breaking chapter of our lives.
“Therefore, we wanted to continue our fundraising with this latest challenge.”
The challenge was sponsored by Bridport-based HR Consultant David Thomas of DTHR Solutions.
Mid-walk refreshments were supplied by Harry Murley of West Beach Cafe Bar at West Bay.
So far, more than £3,980 has been raised.
