Former magazine printing site withdrawn prior to auction

A 4.5 acre site which once printed some of the nation’s favourite magazines and was due to go under the hammer with a guide price of £3.25m was withdrawn prior to auction.

The former Southernprint site on the Upton Industrial Estate comprises three substantial industrial units of nearly 115,000 sq ft of space with adjoining office accommodation.

They were due to be sold freehold at the Acuitus auction on September 23 with vacant possession and the potential for refurbishment or redevelopment.

Acuitus declined to comment on the withdrawal of the lot.

As reported on Dorset Biz News, Upton was Southernprint’s base for more than 20 years after the company moved from its original site in Branksome.

Last November parent company Walstead announced the closure of the web offset site with the loss of 179 jobs, blaming declining magazine volumes.

b4b marketing donates £500 to Poole Hospital Charity

Digital marketing agency b4b marketing has donated £500 to Poole Hospital Charity.

The donation is from the sale of branded reusable face masks to clients and local businesses.

Anthony Tilley, Managing Director, b4b marketing with (centre) Janine Golding, Community Fundraiser, Poole Hospital Charity, and Hayley Baverstock, Marketing Director, b4b marketing.

It follows the firm’s earlier donation of face coverings to three local charities, including Poole Hospital Charity, in May.

The money will support the hospital’s children’s ward.

Anthony Tilley, b4b’s Managing Director, said: “Our clients have been keen to get their teams back to work with the right safety measures in place.

“The plain or branded face masks we’re shipping out to clients and businesses across the UK daily have meant that we can make a considerable donation to the charity.

“As a Poole based business, to be able to support the children’s ward of our local hospital is particularly important to us.”

Janine Golding, Poole Hospital Charity’s Community Fundraiser, said: “As people feel the impact of the pandemic we’ve seen a drop in donations from the local community, so we are particularly grateful for any donations at this time.

“To be able to give this money to the children’s ward means we can continue to support our charitable work in enhancing patient care.”
