Sunseeker celebrates apprentice and graduate success

Twenty seven successful individuals at Sunseeker International have received certificates after completing the company’s apprenticeship and graduate schemes.

Sunseeker launched its apprenticeship scheme 42 years ago and has since supported hundreds of apprentices with multiple learning pathways, including carpentry, composites, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and IT.

The recent successful apprentices completed a four-year apprenticeship scheme at the Bournemouth and Poole College Marine Technology Centre, alongside on-the-job training at Sunseeker shipyards in Poole and Portland.

The vast majority of apprentices remain with the company and progress their careers.

In 2018, Sunseeker launched its graduate programme, offering recent university graduates the opportunity to gain a commercial understanding of how the organisation operates.

The two-year scheme offers rotational placements in a variety of disciplines from production and operations to finance and marketing, allowing individuals to experience all elements of their specialism and supporting roles.

Apprentices and graduates were celebrated with a presentation and thanks from Steve Timms, Production Director and Alex Bowman, HR Director, held at the Sunseeker Showcase at West Quay Road in Poole.

Expansion as jewellers extends into next door premises

A Wareham jewellers has extended into premises next door as it expands its services.

Heirlooms of Wareham, in South Street, specialises in authentic and original antique, vintage and estate jewellery.

It also offers a full range of jewellery services and has created a bespoke design and consultation area.

The extra space means customers can be seated and talk through having their own jewellery designed or pieces valued by owner Amy Brenan or designer Jo Duke, pictured.

It will also provide space for a repairs workshop and more display cases full of the best in antique and modern jewellery.

Amy has a wealth of experience in the field of antique jewellery having spent ten years as Head of Jewellery at a leading auction house.

She is a qualified member of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain, the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and a member of the Society of Jewellery Historians.

Amy has also appeared as a valuer on TV’s Dickinson’s Real Deal.

She said: “We’ve been extremely busy across all our services.

“Lockdown gave us the opportunity to review what we do best and create our new space to encourage more people to think about designing their own jewellery, or redesigning existing pieces that they never wear.

“In addition, people seem to have been checking their jewellery over lockdown to make sure they are adequately insured.

“We’ve seen an increase in customers wanting a verbal or written valuation which we are able to do very easily and comfortably in our seated area.”

Roxanne looks forward to being part of the community  

“People’s health and wellbeing is my passion.”

So says Roxanne Bundy who’s relocated to the UK to be with her partner.

The 28-year-old is a Movement Facilitator, trained in pilates, yoga, functional training and rehabilitation.

She is currently working from East Cliff Therapy Centre in Winton.

Roxanne said: “My goal is to educate as many people as possible on how to use movement and breathwork as tools to feel good, not only physically in their bodies but also mentally.

“Every single person has the ability to optimise their own wellness and overcome any limitations once they have been given the tools to do so.

“I love Bournemouth as it reminds me of my home town, Ballito, a small coastal town in South Africa.

“Community has always been of huge importance to me so I am looking forward to becoming a part of this new one.”
