Building firm donates £1,000 to The Lexi-May Trust Christmas event

Big-hearted Greendale Construction Ltd has donated £1,000 to The Lexi-May Trust’s Christmas event.

The ‘Christmas Lights, Santa and Reindeer Experience’ will see 50 families with children suffering terminal illness, or life limiting conditions, invited to Nutley Farm, Winfrith.

They’ll be able to wander around a magical illuminated walk, visit two friendly reindeer and even get to meet Father Christmas.

All families will be given an allotted time slot in order to adhere to social distancing rules.

Maria Seabright, HR/Finance director at Greendale Construction, said: “It’s been an incredibly tough year for everyone, but that doesn’t mean charities should lose out.

“With that in mind, Greendale is delighted to be able to contribute towards making special memories for the families and their incredibly brave children, who will be able to attend this magical event at Nutley Farm.”

The Lexi-May Trust was founded in 2016 by Carly and Michael Hopkin after the tragic death of their daughter from an inoperative brain tumour.

The Trust supports children with terminal illness or life limiting conditions in Dorset.

Strategic appointment to bolster sales drive in Gallagher’s Poole office

Insurance broker Gallagher has welcomed a new Senior Development Executive to its Poole office.

Ian Dimpsey, pictured left, joins from Towergate Insurance Brokers, where he was Account Director in the broker’s Poole office.

With 30 years’ industry experience, Ian is responsible for attracting new clients based in the local area.

Gallagher’s Poole office, based on Cabot Lane, employs 18 risk management and insurance specialists, looking after a wide range of businesses, from SMEs through to large corporates, with specialisms including manufacturing, retail, technology and engineering.

House builders praised after donating £1,000 to primary school

A primary school says it will be able to continue teaching children vital confidence and self-esteem skills thanks to support from two housebuilders.

Bransgore Church of England Primary School has benefited from support from Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes culminating in the latest £1,000 cash donation.

Both are currently developing Quarter Jack Park just outside Wimborne.

The collaboration between Bransgore C of E Primary School  and Barratt was arranged through Anthony Dimmick, Barratt Homes Community Liaison Manager.

The donation couldn’t have come at a better time as this year Bransgore lost its Forest Schools status.

The scheme backs play, exploration and supported risk-taking to help develop confidence and self-esteem in children.

Paul Brown, Headteacher,  pictured with children at the school, said: “The £1,000 will help us purchase equipment as well as resource some ground works, to create a space where we can teach forest school’s activities at our own site.

“We will be creating a low ropes course, shelter building space, fire circle and a bridge across a brook to link our playground to a small field we can use for ‘wild play’ with our youngest children.

“This will form part of a larger scheme to create even more exciting and engaging outdoor areas in our school.”

“It has been wonderful working with Anthony over the past year.

“He took the time to understand the pressures we were facing and he has been to see us many times.”

Anthony said: “As part of our commitment to help the communities we develop in, our relationship with Bransgore has gone from strength to strength.

“We are very happy to help where we can.”

Barratt Homes offers community support to schools and organisations in the areas where it is building new homes. including the Barratt Homes’ Community Fund.

‘Moonlight Spirits’ stage socially distanced ‘sing a long’ trail 

A musical duo are out to prove that Christmas isn’t cancelled.

Carol and Graham, who go under the name Moonlight Spirits, are doing a socially distanced ‘sing-a-long trail’ across Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch, Wimborne and Wareham.

The couple say they hope to bring some cheer in these covid times with their selection of musical tracks from the 50’s through to the 90’s.

The duo will make a personal visit and perform at a cost of £60 for a minimum of 30 minutes or £100 for one hour.

Both are on vocals while Graham also plays bass guitar.

The act is suitable for pubs, restaurants, hotels, nursing home and private settings, indoor or outside.

Carol said: “Christmas and New Year is very special.

“We are here to get as many people as possible in the Christmas spirit, especially as we come to the end of a very challenging year.”

Full payment is required seven days in advance of the event.

Two standard 13 amp plug sockets must be provided at the venue and also space for a pop up gazebo unless a suitable covered area is available.
