Gallagher Poole choose Julia’s House as Charity of the Year
Long-term client and friend, Julia’s House, has been chosen by the Poole office of Gallagher to be its Charity of the Year for 2023.

To kick-start the campaign, the insurance broker has also become the main sponsor for the Forever Butterflies display at Athelhampton House & Gardens from April 12 to 15.
As reported on DorsetBizNews, Forever Butterflies is a special way to remember loved ones with the creation of an iron butterfly.
They will feature in a garden display at Athelhampton House & Gardens to mark the 20th anniversary of Julia’s House.
To buy a Forever Butterfly in memory of someone special and be part of the garden display, visit juliashouse.org/foreverbutterflies
You can also email info@juliashouse.org or call the charity’s head office on 01202 644220.

Matt Williams, Head of Office at Gallagher Poole, pictured left, said: “Julia’s House is not a typical children’s hospice.
“It provides practical and emotional support for families caring for children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.
“The charity delivers regular support to families at home, in the community and within their hospices.”

Caroline Attreed, Corporate Fundraiser, Julia’s House, pictured right, marked the partnership with Gallagher by visiting its Poole office.
The next event is Gallagher’s Corporate Quiz Night at the Marsham Court Hotel, Bournemouth, from 6pm on May 11.
It will be hosted by professional quiz master, Ashley Hooper.
Table entry (for up to eight people) is £160 which includes a chicken and vegetable curry meal.
All funds raised will be doubled by Gallagher’s matched giving scheme and donated to Julia’s House.

Delight at national award shortlisting for The BV Magazine
The husband and wife team behind The BV Magazine have described being shortlisted for a national award as an “incredible honour”.

The monthly online title for the Blackmore Vale is up against the Nottingham Post and the Western Mail in the Regional Publication of the Year category of the News and Magazine Awards (NMA) 2023.
The result will be announced on Thursday May 18 at the London Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square, London.

Laura Hitchcock, Editor of The BV – pictured with husband Courtenay, Co-Owner and Head of Sales – said: “Being shortlisted for a national news award is an incredible honour.
“We always see it as our responsibility to inform and educate our audience with accuracy and integrity, but we also try to never lose that little bit of personality which makes us uniquely ‘Dorset’.
“This recognition reinforces that commitment.
“The news industry has never been more important, and to be recognised among such talented and respected titles on a national scale is both humbling and inspiring.
“This acknowledgement is not just a personal achievement – it can only be a reflection of the entire team’s efforts to deliver impactful and relevant stories and features, as we try to also entertain and uplift.

“We are grateful for this recognition and the opportunity to continue representing our communities, telling their stories with honest and responsible reporting.”
Launched in September 2020 by Laura and Courtenay, The BV was originally known as The Blackmore Vale until a rebrand.
Earlier this month it was named Digital Magazine of the Year in the 2022/23 Prestige Awards for South England and also Local Monthly Publication of the Year in the CorporateLiveWire Awards.
