Christchurch-based part-time performing arts school, BIGLITTLE Theatre School, has launched its Youth Theatre Accessibility Fund.

The fund aims to support the not-for-profit organisation’s goal of fostering inclusivity and improving access to professional theatre training for students from underprivileged and diverse backgrounds.

It does this by raising funds through corporate sponsorship and individual patronage, enabling the theatre school to meet its 10 per cent target of fully funded places for talented young people who may be otherwise unable to access these opportunities.

The first business to lend its support to the fund is Jimmy’s Iced Coffee.

The Christchurch company, known for its commitment to supporting local communities and fostering positive change, sees its partnership with BIGLITTLE as taking a pioneering step in enabling talented young people to explore their creative potential.

BIGLITTLE is now inviting businesses who want to get actively involved in supporting the performing arts and young people to watch their performance of Broadway Showtunes on Thursday 13 July at the Pavilion Theatre.

The show will be preceded by a pre-show drinks reception starting at 6.30pm.

This will be the show’s 25th outing, featuring 156 youth theatre students between 9 and 19.
