An energy consultancy is helping one of Dorset’s best-known charities to go greener.

Bournemouth-based U4L has switched three of Lewis-Manning Hospice Care’s retail shops – as well as its hospice building – to 100 per cent renewable energy.

As part of its net zero carbon pledge, it has planted 125 trees in the charity’s name across reforestation projects in Mozambique and Madagascar.

Karin Moestam, U4L’s Brand and Sustainability Manager, said: “We’re so pleased to be working with Lewis-Manning Hospice Care as switching to renewable energy is such an important step in becoming a more sustainable organisation.

“By supporting reforestation projects, we’re also helping to reduce carbon emissions in the atmosphere and support local people and wildlife.

“We are also continuing to promote our partnership with the hospice by offering a donation of £250 for every successful introduction made via Lewis-Manning Hospice Care, leading to a new client switching to clean energy with U4L.

“That way we can really make a difference for the people in their care too.”

Karin, and Martin Bell, Business Relationship Manager, also presented a £1,000 cheque to the charity.

Nicki Cluley, Corporate Partnership Fundraiser at Lewis-Manning Hospice Care, said: “We are delighted with the savings being made having switched to U4L and the green impact that this is having on the charity.

“We are hugely grateful for the £1,000 donation that has been received.

“This could provide 48 hours of vital care to vulnerable patients who are isolated in their homes.”
