Each week we shine the spotlight on a member of Dorset’s business community and ask him, or her, for answers to our part fun/part serious questionnaire. This time…

Her childhood hero was Indiana Jones, she’d like to share a car with Daniel Craig, loves heading down to the beach at dusk when it’s quiet and if she was PM she’d go through the MI5 files of every conspiracy theory!

Clare Groombridge, Founder, South Coast Social, takes the 20 Questions’ hotseat.

Question: What is your favourite TV show?

Answer: I was addicted to Messiah on Netflix. I also love a good old fashioned reality TV binge – the more ridiculous and far fetched the better!

Q: Who would you like to share a car with?

A: Daniel Craig. I mean…. who wouldn’t!

Q: The best bit of my job is…?

A: Seeing the results our social media campaigns create for our clients, and being a part of that process from concept and planning, through to the design process and seeing the campaign go live. When you see their sales first start to come in from something you’ve built or their online communities grow from strength to strength, it’s a really gratifying feeling.

Q: And the worst…?

A: The amount of plates I have to spin as a Director! Having said that, I’m lucky to be supported by an amazing team who make it as easy as possible for me.

Q: Who was your childhood hero?

A: Indiana Jones. In another life I’d have been an archaeologist.

Q: What’s your favourite smell?

A: Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir or Tom Ford Black Orchid.

Q: Where’s your favourite place in Dorset?

A: I love heading down to the beach at dusk when it’s quiet. There’s something very therapeutic about the sound of the waves and the sand between your toes. We’re so lucky to live in such a gorgeous part of the UK.

Q: What advice would you give to anyone starting out on a career?

A: Research, test and have a back up plan. Having a great idea isn’t always enough – you need to know your audience inside out and be confident your product or service will be of value. And be prepared to work hard.

Q: What was your first record/CD?

A: Whigfield – Saturday Night. What an absolute classic.

Q: What gets you angry?

A: People who refuse to listen to another side of a situation.

Q: Do you have a favourite piece of music?

A: They’re actually both precipitation related. It’s a toss up between Prince (Purple Rain) and Guns N’ Roses (November Rain).

Q: What are the qualities you look for in a new employee?

A: Passion, attention to detail, loyalty and integrity. We always look for excellent content creators of course, and to work for us you need to be truly immersed in the social media marketing landscape – it’s so fast paced. Plus a sense of humour definitely helps!

Q: What’s your favourite food or dish?

A: Most Greek food. I think I could eat halloumi pretty much every day and never get bored of it. I have celiac disease so it can make eating out tricky for a foodie, which is hard because I like eating and I like going out.

Q: Steamed sponge pudding and custard or a plate of melon?

A: Melon. If I had to!

Q: Name the best thing about living/working in Dorset?

A: Being by the sea is a given… but also being so close to the New Forest, where we spend quite a lot of time. It also has a really great digital and tech community that are keen to collaborate and grow together, plus an excellent university talent pool.

Q: If you were Prime Minister for the day what would be the first thing you do?

A: Go through the MI5 files of every conspiracy theory I could!

Q: What’s your biggest frustration?

A: When people just think we ‘play on Facebook’ all day!

Q:  Where’s your favourite holiday location?

A: Vilamoura in Portugal. We try and go out there when we can, and hope to have a place out there one day.

Q: Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time?

A: Hopefully with a few successful companies under my belt – South Coast Social still being one of them! I’d also like to launch a product and explore that journey as well.

Q: What would you like to be remembered for?

A: Being a good friend.
