Frettens launch new Social Housing team

(Left to right) Hannah Martin, Karen Edwards, Ben Cobb, Will Bartley, Sharon Windsor and Oonagh McKinney,

Dorset law firm Frettens has launched a new specialist social housing team.

Ben Cobb is heading up the team with Oonagh McKinney.

Both have gained a reputation for their work on property acquisitions for registered social landlords, which was commended in this year’s Legal 500 Guide.

They are assisted by Sharon Windsor and new team member, solicitor Hannah Martin.

The team will work closely with commercial solicitor Karen Edwards and the firm’s dispute resolution and landlord & tenant teams to ensure social housing providers, developers and investors are provided with a full service.

The team has already drawn praise from some of their nationwide client base, having advised on multi-million pound portfolio acquisitions for developers and social housing providers.

Ben said: “I am delighted to head up this new social housing team, so that we can increase our offering of services to registered providers of social housing, housing associations, investors and developers of social housing and support/care providers.

“We can assist with acquisitions, leases, all ancillary documentations in relation to social housing portfolios and dispute resolution.”

Former supported living accommodation with development potential comes to market

A development opportunity in Sherborne, Dorset, has come to the market through Savills.

Oborne House, formerly supported living accommodation, extends to about 7,500 sq ft, with a raised terraced garden, courtyard, garages and former stables.

The approximately 0.38 acre site is in a prominent position on the edge of the town and has potential for six flats and a new build house.

A pre-application response from Dorset Council supports the principle to create seven new homes by converting and adapting Oborne House, with parking provision for nine cars and one secure bicycle space per unit.

Vanessa Patel of Savills development team in Wimborne, said: “Oborne House offers a rare opportunity to create seven new homes in this popular North Dorset market town.”

Conditional and unconditional offers are invited by 12 noon on November 12.

More information from Vanessa Patel at Savills Wimborne on 01202 856800.
