Pandemic leads to cancellation of Beach Yoga Fest

This year’s Beach Yoga Fest – the UK’s first, and only, beach yoga festival – has been cancelled.

The event was due to return to Bournemouth next month, from June 19 to 21.

But Ali Sheik, Co-Founder, pictured right, said that following the latest government coronavirus update  “we have taken the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Beach Yoga Fest event.”

He added: “The health and safety of attendees, our staff, sponsors and exhibitors is our main priority.

“While things do seem to be changing for the better, we feel it’s just too finally balanced for us to put on the event at this time.

“We are currently in discussions with the council about next year and will announce dates as soon as we can.

“Anyone who has purchased tickets for this year will be able to request a refund, alternatively tickets can rolled over to Beach Yoga Fest 2021.

“Thank you all for the support that you showed us this year and we will make sure that next year is the best event yet.”

Beware of companies selling sub-standard PPE warns Dorset company

A Verwood-based distribution business which is supplying large quantities of PPE, sanitisers and other products to the care sector and industry nationally says it is keen to fill any shortages in Dorset.

Manutan UK Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of the French-based Manutan group which has 26 subsidiaries in 17 European countries.

About 80 people work for the company on the Ebblake Industrial Estate.

Jonathan Metcalfe, Managing Director, pictured left, said: “We’re delivering all types of hygiene control products, including masks, respirators, sanitisers and wipes, to places as far afield as Scotland.

“However, I’m keen to ensure there is access at good commercial terms for other local small and medium sized businesses and care providers in this area.

“I’d also urge people to make sure they do their due diligence when buying PPE and hygiene control products.

“There are some less than reputable suppliers with goods that do not meet the necessary standards.

“We have been going for more than 30 years and have not just piled into the market.

“There are a lot of challenges getting product to the NHS and, as a result, the care sector has come under particular pressure in sourcing items.

“If we can help then, of course, we’d be only too delighted to assist.”
