Frettens expands team and is recognised in The Legal 500

Frettens has welcomed four new faces as its team of bright lawyers continues to grow.

Cheryl Phimster has joined the residential property team.

She has worked as a senior conveyancer in Lymington for the past eight years.

Megan Wilkins will work in the residential property team as a paralegal.

She comes from another firm in the area and will be studying for her CILEX qualification while at Frettens.

Hannah Martin joins the firm’s new specialist social housing team.

A newly-qualified solicitor, she will work with team leader Ben Cobb on the acquisition of property portfolios for registered social landlords and investors.

Julia Gaunt, an experienced licensed conveyancer, joined the residential property team in Frettens’ Ringwood office during lockdown.

Matt Fretten, Managing Partner, said: “We always look for talented lawyers who are bright, approachable, and can give advice in plain English.

“In Julia, Cheryl, Hannah and Megan we have found four within a short space of time.

“Not only will their arrival allow us to deal with the increasing amount of work and maintain our levels of service, they are all great personalities who I am certain will fit in well with our team.”

  • Frettens has been recognised as one of the region’s leading firms in The Legal 500, an independently researched guide to UK law firms. As well as being recommended as a firm, six of its teams were highlighted and 13 lawyers commended including all six partners. Full details can be found here.

Demonstration in Bournemouth highlights plight of events industry

Event makers in Bournemouth stood with colleagues across the country in a socially distanced, safe and organised show of solidarity.

Nineteen took part in the 15-minute demonstration on the steps of the Pavilion.

WeMakeEvents is a non-political organisation which is calling for meaningful support from the government until the industry is allowed to operate in a way that is not limited by social distancing policies.

Specific measures it wants are:

1, Grants – not loans – made available to businesses in the events supply chain.

2. Furlough scheme extended until the industry is back to work.

3. Extension of the self-employment scheme, tailored towards the industry.

A day earlier, a #WeMakeEvents ‘Stand As One’ creative demonstration was held outside Parliament in London.

New ways of working at Bournemouth’s The Chocolate Box

New flexible solutions have been introduced at a Bournemouth co-working space which is home to a range of businesses.

The Chocolate Box in Christchurch Road comprises two floors of ultra modern commercial office space, filled with a diversity of individual businesses.

Adapting to a post-Covid world it has adapted and reinvented its model and adopted new ways of working.

Where offices are still needed for innovation, collaboration, learning and networking, The Chocolate Box has introduced an Office Membership providing flexible space solutions that are both productive and safe.

Depending on the size of a team, it is offering varied membership tiers to suit all.

Bookings are charged through monthly credits on an online booking site.

Adam King, Founder of The Chocolate Box, said: “Memberships can be used by anyone in a company, so if they wanted to book two people in for the day then they would book two desks using their credits so memberships are per company, not per person.”

Office Membership includes additional perks on top of its flexible model.
