Morebus unveils innovative new bus ticketing app
A new app from Morebus has revolutionised the way bus passengers can plan journeys and buy tickets for its services across Dorset.
It offers customers the chance to tailor their travel plans, track their intended bus in real time, and buy their tickets instantly.
Andrew Wickham. Morebus MD, pictured left, said: “Apps are not a new thing, we were one of the first operators to introduce one several years ago.
“But this is very different – a much improved concept in bus travel and ticketing.
“The technology we’ve harnessed is so powerful that those travelling with us can completely personalise their app.
“That means they can save their regular journeys, choose how their home screen opens, mark bus stops or routes as their favourites, track exactly where their bus is at any given time and, of course, buy their tickets instantly.
“When planning a new journey they can even see how much Co2 they are saving, compared to driving.
“Not only this, but we have updated our website to complement what the app can do.
“Those who have personalised their app will find all their information saved at morebus.co.uk whenever they log in.
“It works brilliantly in tandem.”
The new bus travel software is powered by leading public transport app and website provider, Passenger.
Andrew said: “We’re thrilled by what this new technology can do.
“Our team has worked very closely with Passenger, to ensure our customers have everything they could possibly need for planning and paying for journeys, right at their fingertips.
“Now that the region is emerging from lockdown, we are welcoming many more people on-board – from commuters and those living in the area, to those enjoying a ‘staycation’.
“We invested in this new technology because we expect many people to benefit from an all-encompassing app as we look towards a bright new future in sustainable transport.”
Tom Quay, CEO of Passenger, pictured left, said: “As advocates for shared sustainable transport, Passenger are thrilled to see operators choosing to invest now in digital technology to be ready to start welcoming customers back to the bus.
“Morebus is constantly ahead of the game – ready to innovate and always put their customers first.”
The new app is available to download on iOS or Android devices.

Agincare CEO recognised as a voice of the care industry
Raina Summerson, CEO of Dorset-based care provider Agincare, has been recognised in Home Care Insight’s inaugural Power List.
The industry publication’s Power List recognises and celebrates adult social care’s most influential leaders, who are shining examples of excellence and innovation.
Raina has been included in the Voice of the Industry category, recognising her dedication in campaigning for social care sector reform.
Celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, Agincare remains family owned, growing from a single care home in Weymouth to be one of the largest independent providers of high quality care services in the country.
Raina, pictured, has been key to that growth since joining in 2004.
She is recognised locally and nationally as an influential voice within the health and social care sector, and as a champion for reform and long-term funding.
Raina said: “The Power List award is a tremendous reflection on the incredible Agincare teams we have across the country, all of whom are passionate about delivering high quality care in their community.
“Adult social care reform, including long-term funding and a workforce strategy, is absolutely crucial for care workers, and ultimately the people they are dedicated to supporting and caring for.”
Raina and colleagues were invited to give evidence to the government’s Health and Social Care Select Committee last year as part of its investigations into the future of social care.
Agincare regularly contributes to the conversation around social care.
In recent weeks this has included publication of The Health Foundation’s review of the government’s Covid response, Carers Week 2021 report and LaingBuisson UK Healthcare Workforce & Recruitment Market Report.
Raina is regularly invited to join industry discussion panels and events on current issues, and also represents Agincare and the care sector in the local and national media.
She works with the United Kingdom Home Care Association, and other national bodies, lobbying for improved terms and conditions for the workforce and driving up standards in the social care sector.
