Clare said: “I feel very honoured to have been nominated by the staff at Lewis-Manning Hospice Care.
“It’s funny that the more you are seen as being supportive, the more support you subsequently gain from your staff, all of whom have been brilliant.
“I’ve been at the hospice for over two years now and it’s fantastic to see how much positive change there has been in that time.
“We’ve done lots of hard work on our culture and values which are now centred on kindness and support when working with our patients, our volunteers and each other.
“Sadly I didn’t win the award, however, I am delighted that I made the final four shortlist.
“I was up against some very large organisations and brilliant CEOs from across the UK.
“I wish Kate Heaps huge congratulations on her award.”
Su Newcombe, Lewis-Manning’s Director of Retail, said: “It is wonderful to see Clare’s hard work rewarded in this way.
“Through her incredible supportive nature she has created a dedicated and loyal team who love working alongside her.”

Pete up for prestigious ‘Construction Manager of the Year’ award
Pete Marks, a Site Manager with chartered builders Greendale Construction Limited, has made the finals of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) Construction Manager of the Year Awards 2021.
He’s a finalist in the ‘Refurbishment and restoration under £10m’ category.

Pete, pictured, who joined Greendale in 2003, was nominated for his role as Site Manager at the Museum of East Dorset, Wimborne, (formerly the Priest’s House Museum).
The 400-year-old Grade 2* listed building, which was completed in 47 weeks, received a full refurbishment including new staircases, a platform lift, new steel and glass entrance, accessibility alterations and mechanical and electrical upgrade.

During the works, Pete identified a number of difficulties which, due to his 50 years’ experience in the construction industry, he was able to resolve.
The CIOB Construction Manager of the Year Awards (CMYA) celebrate the achievements of those who inspire, lead and enable the very best delivery of a project and produce buildings that have a positive impact on those who use them.
The awards ceremony is to be held at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel in London on September 29 and will be hosted by Channel 4’s George Clarke, architect and presenter of ‘Remarkable Renovations’ among other programmes.

Rob Hooker, Director, Greendale Construction, pictured left, said: “We are delighted that Pete has achieved this much deserved accolade.
“The CMYA rightly recognises Pete’s skills as an expert Site Manager, having delivered some amazing projects for Greendale over the years.
“All finalists automatically achieve professional qualifications from the Chartered Institute of Building, so very well done, Peter Marks, MCIOB – and fingers crossed for the big night at the CMYA Awards.”
