Ever get the feeling when things are going well – in your life or business – that, well, it shouldn’t really be like this?

That, perhaps, you’re a bit of a fraud?

The official term for such a feeling is ‘Imposter Syndrome’.

It’s defined as: ‘the persistent inability to believe that your success is deserved or has been legitimately achieved as a result of your own efforts or skills.’

Now a free workshop is taking place next month dealing solely with Imposter Syndrome.

Life and business coach Chris Finn is running it for business owners, leaders and entrepreneurs but anyone can come along.

The workshop will:

  • Explore how the amount you fake it directly correlates with the feeling of imposter syndrome.
  • Discover the sometimes subtle ways we keep ourselves from feeling confident.
  • Learn what’s keeping your imposter syndrome going.
  • Explore how perfectionism prevents confidence.
  • Allow you to come away with a new perspective on imposter syndrome, confidence, self-doubt, and anxiety.
  • Gain clarity on the actions to take to instil robust confidence.
  • Reduce the gap between who you really think you are, and the ‘you’ that you portray to others.

Chris, who featured on Dorset Biz News last year, said: “I’ve decided to run this event because I keep coming across Imposter Syndrome so much in my work.

“People who feel like a bit of a fraud in what they’re doing, resulting in them in holding themselves back.

“I’d love to help them break free!

“The quote I often say is that ‘The further you get in life by pretending, the more you feel like an imposter’.

”I’m basically debunking the ‘fake it until you make it’ advice, and showing what works to instil confidence in what you do.”

The free workshop is on Monday March 27 at the Captains Club Hotel and Spa, Christchurch, at 7pm, finishing with a Q&A by 8.30pm.

There will be an opportunity for networking and drinks following the workshop.

Limited spaces are available and early booking is advised.
