The team at Poole-based AJC Group are cracking on with their latest affordable housing scheme at the new Dorchester Brewery Square complex, ahead of schedule.
Together with Aster Group, their brownfield regeneration is set to deliver 57 new homes in the heart of the town for affordable rent and shared ownership, including 32 three- and four-bedroom houses and 25 apartments.
Each property will be built to a high EPC-B rating and one in two will also be allocated an EV charging point, with parking available for all residents.
Work began on the project in March 2023 following land remediation and groundworks and is due to finish in November 2024.
David Cracklen, Director of AJC Group, said: “It’s great to see construction progressing at such a pace at our trailblazing scheme, which is delivering a key milestone for the 20-year transformation of Dorchester town centre.
“The foundations and blockwork are taking shape, with the first bricks already laid at ground floor level.
“There’s a desperate need for affordable housing in Dorchester, so it’s a privilege to be delivering one of our largest construction projects and the first four-bedroom houses within Brewery Square.”
AJC Group has committed to building 500 affordable homes across the South Coast by 2028, with other live developments in the village of Okeford Fitzpaine near Blandford Forum, three around Poole, and another apartment scheme in Bournemouth.
This year alone they’re on track to deliver more than 200 mixed-tenure homes for a construction value in excess of £100 million.
