This year’s first-ever Bournemouth Reggae Weekender is to celebrate local NHS heroes.
Organisers have added Friday July 2 to the event schedule and will host NHS, social care and frontline staff at Kings Park.

All proceeds from the day will go to the National Care Association.
Bournemouth Reggae Weekender – organised by Afro*disiac Live Radio – is also being staged on Saturday July 3 and Sunday July 4.
It will feature live performances from local and not-so-local bands, artists, and DJs delivering a One Love message.
As well as showcasing the best street food Bournemouth has to offer, there will be more than 30 mixed stalls with crafts, vintage clothing and more.

Ray Nyenje, Director, Afro*Disiac Live Radio, said: “July 5, 1948 was a historic moment in our country’s history.
“It was the day our pioneering National Health Service (NHS) was born, bringing free healthcare to everyone.
“We have treasured it ever since, but never more so than since March 2020 when the coronavirus pandemic gripped the UK and utterly changed all our lives.
“We are very proud to announce we have now added an additional day on Friday July 2, 2021, which is for NHS and frontline workers to honour them for their brilliant hard work, resilience and commitment through the pandemic.
“We have joined forces with the team organising the NHS and Frontline Workers Day held on July 5 so our event on Friday will kick start celebrations.”

Lionel Yafele, also of Afro*Disiac Live Radio, added: “All ticket sales will go to the National Care Association.
“Tickets are only £3.00 each and we welcome any NHS and frontline workers and their friends/family to attend a great day of celebrations.
“We will also be remembering those we lost through the pandemic.”
