More than 100 clients of Baggette & Company Wealth Management were invited to a prestigious event at the Royal Motor Yacht Club in Sandbanks recently to support the Liz Clarke-Saul fund.

Baggette & Company logoTheir silent auction offered a host of prizes donated by local companies, ultimately raising a grand total of £1,700.

It all went towards the fund set up in honour of the late Liz Clarke-Saul, who was first diagnosed with the rare bone cancer adamantinoma at the age of 12.

Following a leg amputation, Liz competed on the GB Paracycling team and held down a job she loved in communications, before passing away in 2020 at 31 – two years after her second cancer diagnosis.

Her name lives on in the fund, founded by Liz herself and continued to this day by her family as a means to support pioneering research into diagnosis and treatment for adamantinoma.

The disease accounts for less than 1 per cent of all bone cancers, which themselves make up just 1 per cent of all new cancer diagnoses in the UK.

Lesley and Jeremy Saul said: “We’re thrilled that Baggette & Company has chosen The Liz Clarke-Saul fund as their client charity of the year and are so grateful for their kind support.

“We were delighted to introduce our charity to fellow Baggette clients and look forward to doing so again at future events.

“Our daughter set up the fund in 2018 with her husband Jack after learning that her childhood cancer had returned and was incurable.

“In her words, ‘I want to change the landscape of adamantinoma for patients in the future so that another me, in however many years’ time, won’t be sat down by their oncologist and told that there is nothing they can do’.”

Two pilot projects in the field have received a positive response, with the Bone Cancer Research Trust set to allocate another £100,000 for the next stage of research.

Oscar HjalmasOscar Hjalmas, Chairman of Baggette & Company, added: “We’re grateful to the local businesses for offering such generous auction lots and for the amazing clients who donated to this worthy cause.

“Supporting charities is something close to our hearts, and the team at Baggette & Company is proud to contribute towards Lesley and Jeremy’s fundraising efforts.”
