The temperatures were hot but the competition was even hotter as nine law firms took to the racetrack for an annual go-karting challenge.

Hosted by Saffery Champness chartered accountants, and held at South Coast Karting at Parley, the 12 teams competed for a coveted cup, awarded by Safferys.

Each team contributed £100 to Lewis-Manning Hospice Care which was presented with a cheque for £1,200.

The law firms taking part were Ellis Jones, Frettens, Humphries Kirk, Laceys, Lester Aldridge, Parker Bullen, Preston Redman, Steele Raymond and Trethowans.

Safferys entered two teams and the lawyers and accountants were joined by IT support business, Quostar.

Early leaders on the score board, and vying for the top positions, were Safferys, Lester Aldridge, Frettens and Steele Raymond.

However, Lester Aldridge and Steele Raymond started to edge ahead as the evening progressed with Lester Aldridge declared the eventual winners.

Edward Adamson, Lester Aldridge Partner, pictured with fellow team members Gerard Chalkly-Maber, Danielle Slater and Alex Bickerstaff, said: “It’s been a fantastic evening, supporting a very worthwhile charity.

“It was hot work but friendly and competitive racing and lots of fun.”

Jamie Lane, Partner, Saffery Champness, said: “The evening has been a great success and I love the camaraderie shown by all.

“We were delighted to be supporting our local community hospice, Lewis-Manning Hospice Care, yet again.”

Nicki Cluley, who represented Lewis-Manning Hospice Care with Kristin Warren, Corporate Partner Fundraiser, added: “What an evening!

“As well as enjoying some super competitive racing, it’s been brilliant chatting with everyone.

“We’ve even had two more pledges made for our 30 4 30 campaign, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Lewis-Manning.

“Huge congratulations to all the drivers and big thanks to Saffery for choosing to support us.

“It makes a real difference.”
