Are you up for the challenge?

Push yourself physically, experience amazing scenery and raise money for two great charities at the same time.

JK House Training Centre is organising a 15-mile Coastal Tab on Saturday June 5 in support of the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF) and MYTIME Young Carers.

The challenge follows a route which takes in some of the stunning scenery on the Isle of Purbeck and loops around to the Royal Marines Commando Memorial, at Emmetts Hill, where poppies will be laid in memory of John Thornton.

The Royal Marine officer, 22, was killed while on active service in southern Afghanistan with 40 Commando Royal Marines.

Pete Thornton, JTYAF Chair, pictured left, said: “Join us for this fantastic challenge and raise funds as you walk for two fabulous local charities.

“You’ll be helping to make a real difference to young people, giving them the opportunities and support they deserve and ensuring that both JTYAF and MYTIME Young Carers can continue our work.

“The trek is set to be quite a challenge.

“The Purbeck hills provide some breath-taking scenery but also steep slopes, narrow paths and tough stairs.

“You’ll need plenty of determination, one of the core values of the Royal Marine Commandos, but the sense of achievement will certainly be worth the effort.”

The deadline to register for the Coastal Tab is June 1 but tickets are going fast.

If you think you’re going to struggle to complete the route but would like to get involved, you can do half the course.

Pick ups can be arranged at Durlston County Park, the halfway point.

To register for the event, visit the JK House website here which contains all the information needed and a link to the registration page.

If you’d like to support the event donations can be made there as well.
