It’s being hailed as the ‘Purbeck Property Boom’.

Estate agents Goadsby sold and agreed sales on 38 properties with a combined value of £26m in the ten weeks from August 1 until October 9.

Gavin Harris, Divisional Director, described the figure as “fantastic.”

He added: “Having worked in both our Wareham and Swanage offices for over 20 years, this is one of the busiest periods that I can recall.

“I think the lockdown made many people re-evaluate their lives, homes and property needs.

“Going forward, and with many people now working from home, the need to live in, or be near London, has reduced.

“As a consequence areas such as the Purbecks have become very popular.”

In August and September, Goadsby’s Swanage Office recorded that 70 per cent of its buyers were from out of the area.

Gavin, pictured left, said: “Many buyers are either relocating completely or wishing to purchase a second home that they will use but also holiday let.

“With the staycation now being popular with many people, we will be sure of letting these second homes.

“Both of the teams at Swanage and Wareham have worked very hard and as a result we are now in need of new instructions.

“With the stamp duty incentive finishing at the end of March we would encourage those wishing to sell and take advantage of the incentive to contact us as soon as possible.”

Nigel Price, Chairman, Goadsby Residential, pictured right, added: “All of our residential offices have been extremely busy during the summer months.

“Certainly the stamp duty incentive has had a very positive effect.

“A combination of coast and countryside is proving really popular with those relocating from the London and surrounding area.”
