A managed cloud infrastructure business won praise from a leading e-health technology company after delivering a new 24/7 service in a race against the clock.

Bournemouth-based Scholar Web Services pulled out all the stops to complete the large multi-site cloud infrastructure project.

The company was referred by one of its partners to work with the unnamed e-health provider to deliver a 24/7 cloud managed service.

The e-health technology client was on key government healthcare frameworks with contract awards being actioned swiftly due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

It required an experienced cloud Managed Service Provider (MSP) to build its core cloud infrastructure.

The healthcare application services needed to be ready to respond to the high influx of traffic, when its new services launched.

A race against the clock was necessary to ensure its services were accessible and scalable to respond to Covid-19 healthcare demand.

The Scholar team got to work with building and provisioning a multi-site cloud infrastructure environment on its Scholar VMware cloud platform.

Resilience and uptime were key components of the new cloud architecture, so Scholar designed a resilient multi-site set-up which would spread the cloud architecture across multiple UK datacentres.

It delivered resilience by mitigating against any localised issues at the datacentres’ facilities, as well as enabling platform failover and data replication for the e-healthcare apps and API’s.

Gavin Pidgley, Managing Director, Scholar Web Services, said: “It was a great project for the team to be involved in.

“Not only were we working with a new client, but we were also tasked with forming part of the team that was ensuring key healthcare services were available for the Covid-19 response in the UK.

“Our team was already working remotely, so communication was key to successfully delivering the new environment within the required timeline.

“I’m immensely proud of the Scholar team and thrilled to be working with a progressive healthcare company to manage its business cloud infrastructure.”

The new cloud environment was provisioned, tested and went live within the required timeframes to allow the e-health technology company to launch its services to Clinical Commissioning Group healthcare partners.

Praising Scholar for its efforts, the Lead Developer for the e-health company said: “The pace at which we had to work to make sure our services were ready was intense.

“Our internal development teams were doing a number of key releases and we really needed an infrastructure partner who could keep up with the pace of change.

“Scholar provided senior cloud infrastructure experience, coupled with a quick turnaround for the provisioning of our new cloud infrastructure.

“We had weekly progress calls with their team, who kept us up to date every step of the way.”

Founded in 2014, Scholar Web Services is based on the Aviation Business Park at Bournemouth Airport.
